HAAT- TOUCH POINT (RURAL INDIA)


Much before the wall-mart of the world got hot on retail : India had its own grassroots retail network, known as Haats . Haats play  a vital role in the rural economy of India. they provide people of nearby villages to purchase there daily need consumer goods and an opportunity to sell there surplus agricultural and allied proroducts . a Haat caters from 10 to 50 villages of grounding area. these are held one weekly basis ( some are bi weekly too ) sunday haats  are the most popular one . there are morning haats then there are evening haats too .. Most of the sellers sell on the ground and there are a large verity to offer ..Haats do not sell only loose commodities but also a significant amount of Packaged goods too . the numbers are very less from rural population who do not visit and shop in Haats for there household purchases .
